Everybody talk about…slotMusic!

First thing – why do companies put capital letters in the middle of product names instead of the start to look cool. It’s not.

But anyway, slotMusic is the new format you can buy music on (I reckon films soon too): on a memory card. It looks like the big companies are going the full way to adapt to how everyones getting music these days, but I reckon it’s gonna fail badly. I just don’t see anyone wanting their music on a tiny little 1gb card. It’s too small and too much of a fuss, and the kids that these are aimed at are all out their ripping straight from the blogs anyway, so what’s the point. If the big ‘uns want us to buy their music, they need to do what the smaller labels are doing – throw a few tracks out on to the blogs, plug their shows and sell albums on the side.
I’d say that’s pretty much the only way they’d get through to me but I can’t speak for the older people. I dunno what they prefer (vinyl? a-track?) and I’m sure that the labels have already got them covered.

So yeah, doomed to fail I reckon and I’m sure that Ringo Starr inspired it all, lol.

Maybe that’s the way music’s going – usb wristbands!

As I type I’m listening(/having my ears battered by) – The Bloody Beetroots – Cornelius (Dala edit) [myspace]
I think this just tips the promos for Part of the Weekend and A Cross the Universe*. It’s for the new Bloody Beetroots EP (Dim Mak Records – 18th December) and its awesome.

*mostly because of the 30 seconds of girl on girl
